Welcome to the Nervula Closed Beta

Thank you for helping us test Nervula!
Nervula is a decentralized (P2P) communication platform built around direct connections between real people. The best way to experience it is together with someone you know.

Step 1: Join the testing group

To access the Google Play closed beta, you first need to join the official Nervula testing Google Group.

How to start using Nervula?

Since there are no central servers and no user registration, getting started is slightly different from traditional messengers. Here is how to begin:

  1. Install and Launch:
Open the app. There is no registration required—no phone number or email needed. Simply set an application password to protect your local data, and choose a display name (nickname)!
  2. Add a Partner (The most important step!):
Since there are no central servers holding contact lists, you need to connect directly with your partner:
    • Share your identity: In the Profile tab, tap “My Account (QR)” to display your QR code or copy your unique ID to send it to your partner.
    • Add your partner: In the Contacts tab, tap the bottom-right [+👤] (Add Contact) button to scan your partner's QR code or paste their ID from the clipboard.
  3. Establish a Secure Connection:
Once both of you approve the connection, the devices establish an End-to-End Encrypted (E2EE) channel directly between each other.
  4. Start Testing!
You can now send messages and explore the core features:
    • 💬 Direct and group conversations, ephemeral messages
    • 📷 Photos, voice messages, and file sharing
    • 📰 Feed, polls, and events
    • "Keep Nervula Awake" feature in the header when expecting an important message
